Mwiza Nkhata joined the Faculty of Law in 2004 and is currently an Associate Professor of Law. He has served as Dean of Faculty, Deputy Dean of Faculty, Head of Foundational Law Department and he has also served the Faculty, and the University of Malawi, in various committees. He is also currently the Vice President of the Malawi Law Society. Mwiza Nkhata has also been an Associate Editor for the Malawi Law Journal, the University of Malawi Journal of Law and Social Justice and has acted a reviewer for many journals in the region. Apart from his teaching commitments, Mwiza is a prescribed legal practitioner and remains in active law practice.
Areas of research interest:
Comparative constitutional law, governance and constitutionalism, administrative law, human rights in the African context, human rights in sub-regional organisations, equity and trusts and international criminal law. Mwiza has conducted research and published peer-reviewed publications in the aforementioned areas, among other areas.
